Feast of Saint Andrew the Apostle. Simon, called Peter, was the first disciples of Jesus. Matthew, 4:18-22

Feast of Saint Andrew the Apostle.  He and his brother Simon who was called Peter were the first disciples of Jesus.  Andreas and Simon received the call as disciples when they were casting their nets on the lake.  Anderas and Simon answered the call by leaving their nets and following Jesus.  Reflecting on Andreas' call, I remembered a story about a blind woman and a young man.  This blind woman works as a beggar.  One night, this woman as usual begging in front of a shop.  That night it rained heavily, and his son, who used to pick him up and drop off, did not come.   The rain began to subside, he heard the sound of footsteps passing in front of him.  He called the passerby saying, Brother, please take me home.  The young man stopped and replied, did you ask me for help?  He, he answered.  The young man approached, helped her up and led the blind woman back to her house.  "Mother, why did you call me earlier, weren't there before me there were already many people passing

The more we know God, the more we should trust Him, even in the most difficult conditions. Matthew, 8:5-11

Are we in the habit of checking the strength of a chair before we sit on it, just to make sure it's safe?  It seems impossible for us to do that.  How do we make sure that the chair is strong enough to support our weight?  Starting from this illustration, there is one question that we need to ponder.  If we believe in the power of a chair, why don't we sometimes have the same faith in God, especially in difficult times?  Of course, it is different in the conditions of life's struggle that requires faith compared to the case of sitting on a chair.  This story teaches us that faith is not something complicated to practice because we can receive the results of that faith.  This officer in Capernaum understood that Jesus' authority and power were different from those of other persons, thus giving rise to faith in him.  This officer's faith not only amazed Jesus but also brought healing to his servant.  Be to you as you believe, is the key in this story, which leads to t

Watching While Praying Luke, 21:34-46

Image
The Lord Jesus will surely come again and no one will escape judgment on the day the Lord comes.  Therefore, Jesus exhorted and encouraged His disciples to keep watch in waiting for Him.  Disciples must guard against the temptations of worldly pleasures and desires.  So that when the Day of the Lord comes, they will not be victims of judgment.  Jesus warned to watch while praying.  Only then do Christ's disciples gain strength.  Prayer helps us to stand firm before God.  As disciples of Christ, we too are waiting for His coming.  Thus, Jesus' advice to His former disciples also applies to us today.  We also have to be on guard and not be carried away by worldly currents.  Don't let us fall into sin and be punished when the day of judgment comes.  But in reality, aren't we often tempted and lulled by the comforts the world has to offer?  We are easily swept away by the changing times.  God's Word today reminds us to stay on the alert.  Open our eyes, ears, hearts an

My Word is Lasting And Sturdy Since It Was Spoken. The word Blessing actually consists of two syllables, namely bene (good, noble) and dicere (words, or words). Luke, 21:29-33

beautiful sunrise city jerusalem The word blessing comes from the Latin word benedict.  This word actually consists of two syllables, namely bene (good, noble) and dicere (words, or words).  Thus benedict (blessing) means good words or words.  One who blesses means to say kind words, noble words.  Words can bring blessings to others or they can be curses.  Depends on what comes out of the mouth, good or bad.  If we had to choose, I'm sure we would choose to speak well.  We will be happy to hear people say good words from others, so other people will certainly prefer to hear good words from us, not swear words or words of reproach.  Jesus reminds us that the heavens and the earth will pass away but His words will not pass away.  We believe and believe that the words of Jesus are living words, words that lead us to salvation.  His words are words that bring us to the blessing of goodness and of course, saving goodness.  Facing the end of time, no one knows when the time will be, so J

Jerusalem, the holy city, where the Jewish people gather every year, is now prophesied to be destroyed by foreign occupation.

The holy city of Jerusalem Jerusalem, the holy city, where the Jewish people gather every year, is now prophesied to be destroyed by foreign occupation.  The Jews will no longer control Jerusalem, it will be the foreigners who will occupy Jerusalem.  Even Jesus asserted that those who would occupy Jerusalem were nations that did not know God.  Thus, Jerusalem, which had been the religious center of the Jews, would become a pagan place.  Previously it was also prophesied that the temple would be destroyed, not one stone would rest on another stone.  That is the old Jerusalem, the Jerusalem that only relies on the beauty of the physical building.  Jesus came and promised the coming of a new Jerusalem, which was Himself the one who brought salvation.  The old Jerusalem will be destroyed and their identity will be lost.  The new Jerusalem will rise and gather all the nations, not only the Jews but anyone who will come and accept God's offer of salvation.  The new Jerusalem will not onl

Mount Tabor  Mount Tabor is located in the north of Israel.  Precisely at the eastern end of the Jezreel Valley, west of the Sea of Galilee.  Now the Peak can be reached by vehicle, but in the past visitors had to reach it by climbing 4,340 steps.    At the top of this mountain is the Basilica of the Transfiguration and the Franciscan monastery.  On this mountain stand three chapels dedicated to Jesus, Moses and Elijah.  During the Crusades, these three chapels were combined into a beautiful basilica.  The Transfiguration of Christ is the event where Jesus is glorified on a mountain and meets Moses and Elijah.  His face was radiant and full of glory.  This is the pinnacle of the spirituality of Jesus.  On this occasion, three of His disciples, namely Peter, James and John, were with Him.  The light of glory that shone from the face of Jesus taught the disciples that the sad event that would be experienced by Him would lead them to victory, glory, that behind insults and insults there

Michelangelo's amazing painting on the roof of the Sistine Chapel in Vatican Italy - this painting depicts: the story in the book of Genesis, the fall of man.

Michelangelo's Paintings In 1512, after 4 years finally Michelangelo was able to finish his famous painting which is so amazing on the roof of the Sistine Chapel in Vatican Italy - this painting depicts: the story in the book of Genesis, the fall of man, the genealogy of Jesus, & also the work of salvation etc.  But over time, also because of the candle smoke in the church, and dust etc., it all slowly began to cover the beauty of the painting.  So in 1984-1999 a restoration project for the painting was carried out.  Prior to 1999, many tourists who visited the Sistine Chapel who saw the large painting work mostly thought, although the work was large, graceful and stunning, but the colors were too dark, dim and the painting looked less than bright myopic.  However, after the restoration was completed in 1999, the artwork has managed to return to the way it was when the creator painted it.  The original brilliance that had been hidden for hundreds of years has been brought back

Be Faithful Disciples of Christ. Not being a wolf for others or other religions (homo homini lupus). Luke, 21:12-19

Image
Suffering and persecution will always be a part of human history.  Often we find that humans become wolves for others (homo homini lupus).  Life is not easy, it requires struggle to get something or to achieve something, often justifies various ways to pursue it.  Sacrificing others becomes an effective and easy way.  There are almost always victims in many life events.  Likewise in the dynamics of the life of faith.  There are many challenges and obstacles that are often faced by religious people when they want to express their faith.  Certain religious rituals are often considered strange and untrue because they are not used to seeing them or fail to understand the rituals of other religions.  While each religion has a different expression of faith, it has a different rite.  If there is not sufficient explanation, the expression of faith in other religions is always a source of conflict.  Jesus reminds us as Christians to be alert and ready when the time comes for us to experience ob

The temple is a place where we gather and pray. Jesus is the living temple of God, instead he must experience death because of the temple of God

It is a joy in itself when we can see, witness and feel magnificent buildings, beautiful and cool natural scenery, also the face of someone who is beautiful and so on.  These are all human facts for which we should be grateful.  We are grateful that we are able to enjoy it with the senses we have.  Each of us would want everything to be good and beautiful, from our behavior to the behavior of the universe.  This is our reality as human beings who are capable of thinking and acting.  But that ability is also often the destroyer of the beauty that is around us.  Even one's own beauty is marred by our own thoughts and actions.  Humans who are so great and noble have actually become so low because of our own actions.  The temple is a place where we gather and pray.  The temple of Allah is our place to meet Allah.  In the temple building we express our faith.  The temple of God as a magnificent building is indeed needed.  But if only the physical building is important, the Temple will o

FAITH THAT ACTUALLY SEEN FROM ACTIONS OR WORKS OF LOVE.

The widow at Zarephath was willing to GIVE BREAD FROM HIS LACK to the prophet Elijah.  The poor widow who put the offering into the treasury was praised by Jesus because the widow gave of her lack.  The Widow of Zarephath and the Poor Widow are examples of believers who imitate Jesus Christ who was willing to lay down His life for the salvation of the world.  These two widows who are both poor give up what they need in life to help others who need them more.  They give willingly without expecting any appreciation or praise or reward.  we must always be ready to help anyone who is always in need, even if we have to sacrifice something that we really need.  For the greater the sacrifice, the greater the reward from God (Mark 12:14).  Giving something to others in need, when we ourselves are also in need, is NOT EASY.  But herein lies the VALUE OF GIVING.  The value of that gift becomes REALLY HIGH, BECAUSE WE GIVE FROM WHAT WE NEED, NOT WHAT WE DON'T NEED.  We give from our lack and

The resurrection of the dead throughout Israel's history has always been an interesting debate. What is life after death?

Image
The resurrection of the dead throughout Israel's history has always been an interesting debate.  Some groups of Jews believed in a resurrection but some Sadducees did not or did not believe in a bodily resurrection.  They also do not believe in angels and spirits, much less in the resurrection after death.  This unbelief is the context of their question to Jesus.  They imagine life after the resurrection as much as life today.  And their question is very relevant with regard to the law of the levirate.  This question becomes our question in general, namely how life after death.  We believe and believe that there is a resurrection and eternal life.  But as to how exactly or how the resurrection technique was, we can only speculate.  In line with the question of the Sadducees, nowadays what often becomes our debate is what about people who have died and are not buried, but cremated.  Anxiety thought of many people is one of the issues of bodily resurrection.  If his body was destroye

"Master, what must I do, to have eternal life?" so asked a rich young man (Mark 10:17-30

According to Jesus, the first way: Obeying God's Commandments (10 Commandments), this first method must be complemented by the second way: Following Jesus in life, because Jesus is the way to eternal life;  However, this second method needs to meet 2 conditions, namely:  trusting themselves sincerely in God's guidance where people are challenged to break free from attachments to personal desires and desires: money, place, people, position/position (worldly things).  Attachment in any form that is only temporary in nature, often shackles people and makes it difficult to let go and often leads people away from happiness.  All our hearts and minds are primarily for God and not for other things that can shift God's position in our hearts and minds. triving to live the Word of God in our daily life. As humans, we often act like the young man Jesus told about in today's Gospel.  The young man was so attached and preferred to follow the call of earthly treasures than to follow

JESUS CHRIST KING OF THE UNIVERSE

Image
a celebration that wants to remind us that Jesus is King in this universe.  As King, His presence is a Blessing to HUMANITY.  The greatest blessing we receive from Him is HIS EXAMPLE OF LIFE to us, LIFE TO LOVE EACH OTHER.  The example of life He manifested by the miracles He did both healing and feeding, then atonement for our sins through His death on the cross.  My brethren, let us ask ourselves: Is Jesus still the king who reigns and reigns in each of us, in our families, in society, and in the midst of life in this universe?  Are we still providing the best time in our daily lives for Jesus the Lord?  It is not uncommon for JESUS to be neglected in our daily lives.  He is indeed the king who resides within us, but often we don't greet him, we are ignorant and don't care about him, we don't ask for his advice and considerations.  Maybe all this time we "KING" OTHER THINGS OUTSIDE Christ.  We want POWER OVER OURSELVES so that we forget Jesus who is in fact th

My house is a house of prayer, don't make it a den of thieves. Luke, 7:45-48

Jesus was angry when the synagogue was turned into a trading place. People who like high cholesterol foods will result in themselves having excess cholesterol.  A person who likes to eat and drink sweet, is likely to get sick with diabetes.  People who like to eat red meat or who have high blood content, it is almost certain that he will get high blood pressure.  In other words, what we eat can tell us who we are.  Jesus reminds us that the temple is a house of prayer.  In a new perspective, Saint Paul says that our body is the temple of God.  The temple of God is the house of God.  And if God's house is a house of prayer, then our body is also a house of prayer. Jesus reminded that each of us is actually a house of prayer.  If our bodies are filled with the elements of robbers, it is certain that the house of prayer will turn into a house of thieves.  What was supposed to be a place of sanctification but instead the house of prayer became a place of robbery.  Thus, it can be under

Marriage is a sacred thing that must be lived with a big heart and soul. There is no right or wrong word. every second, Becoming a learning time for a harmonious family.

Much water cannot quench it, rivers cannot wash it away.  We were designed for Togetherness ~ the three-piece rope doesn't break easily. Even though living together is not as easy as the theory we often read.  We have lived a lot of pain and happiness.  There is a lot of tolerance that must be shared, even though it is not easy....There are times when the personal ego always wants to be respected.  There are times when the word sorry feels difficult to give to your beloved husband or wife.  Marriage is a sacred institution that must be lived with a big heart and soul..... there is never a word wrong and right..... every second, it's not enough just to learn..... but have to work hard and try tirelessly  to keep the marriage intact.  Marriage is a partnership in which one inspires the other, and brings fruit to both.  Marriage is the last, best opportunity for growth, there is no relationship, union or friendship more loving, friendly and joyful than a good marriage.  The true m

Yesus Menangisi Yerusalem Tentu Sungguh Mengharukan. Mengapa Yesus menangisi kota tua Tersebut ? Lukas 19:41-44

Image

Honest And Responsible Luke, 19:11-28

Image
We must have heard the term Judgment Day, what are our feelings and thoughts?  Of course we say the day of reckoning, the time when we have to give accountability for our lives and only we ourselves know what kind of accountability to give.  For from our own mouths, we shall pronounce judgment upon ourselves. the disciples that Jesus' journey to Jerusalem was not only the beginning of the building of the kingdom but also a time to account for all the beliefs that were offered to the disciples and all of us. It is not the result that determines the responsibility, but the effort and honest attitude.  Today's parable provides an example of how dishonesty can be self-defeating.  If people can only blame others and do not dare to admit their own limitations, then the struggle will not work as it should. We have great trust, which is receiving grace and opportunity.  This we need to be fully developed.  What opportunities should we look for?  Which possibilities should we take advan

Work and pray

Image
Work and pray Two equally important activities are prayer and work.  Praying and working are two different types of activities but often because of circumstances and conditions sometimes we do it at the same time and place. The question is, can we do both activities at the same time?  To clarify this question, consider the following example. Let's take an example:1  Doni went to the office by car, in between traffic jams he prayed the Rosary, all the way to his office.  This is an example of working and praying.  Example 2.  Budi followed Mass, during his homily and in between singing he was busy sending or receiving sms.  This is also an example of praying and working.  Let's introspect ourselves, which one do we often do?  Activities that are similar to the first event or similar to the second event.  Hopefully we don't do a second event. Imagine, when subordinates face their superiors, students face teachers, students face lecturers, while carrying cellphones and busy te

Physical weakness often hinders our intentions to do good.

Image
Because I don't feel rich yet, I don't have the courage to donate.  Since I did not study theology, I did not dare to be involved in the management of the Church.  Because I don't know, I don't have to help those in trouble.  Feeling myself a sinner, I distanced myself from God and ecclesiastical activities. Zacchaeus had an extraordinary desire to meet Jesus.  His weakness did not stop him from seeing Jesus.  He also made sense by climbing up a tree to be able to see Jesus.  And did he find Jesus?  It didn't turn out.  It was not Zacchaeus who met Jesus, but it was Jesus who met Zacchaeus who was on a tree.  Jesus also knows exactly what and how our weaknesses are today.  What Jesus wants is for us to try to come to Him.  Due to circumstances and weaknesses, we cannot recognize the Lord Jesus.  But Jesus did not close his eyes.  He will come to meet us, as long as we want to try. Doing good does not need to wait until you actually physically meet Jesus.  Delaying d

True story about a very famous violinist. he is a very generous person, the proceeds from his performance he donated to the welfare fund.

Famous Violin Story. Every human being like us is God's creation & beautiful work like a violin whose purpose was created by the violinist to play beautiful music.  But it is a pity that too many of us let the creator's purpose be neglected.  A true story about a very famous violinist in the 20th century, he is a very philanthropist too, the results of his performance are mostly donated to welfare funds. Once while performing in Europe, he saw a very beautiful and brilliant quality violin being sold in a music store.  But because he did not have enough money to buy.  He started to collect money, and when he had enough money, he returned to the Violin seller's shop.  But unfortunately the violin has been sold, and he was told that the violin had been bought by a collector. After being told the address he went to visit the Collector and conveyed his intention to buy the beautiful Violin.  But the sicoletor refused because the violin was very rare and beautiful. whoever loses his life because of me and because of the gospel, he will save it.

Image
Jesus said, "For whoever wants to save his life will lose it; but whoever loses his life for Me and the gospel will save it. What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, but he loses his life. For what can he give in exchange for his life?  ?” (Mark 8:35-37)  Jesus spoke of three kinds of people, three kinds of results: One type of person is "gaining the whole world" and the result is "losing his life." The other type is "saving his life" and the result is "losing his life" And the third type of person "lost his life for Jesus and for the gospel" and the result is "he will save it."  The first type of people are people in the world who are passionate and desperately trying to make money.  There are many such people, they all think that they have the potential to earn money and they are happy.  They are satisfied.  Such people have lost their lives in this life, they have become slaves to their money and career, havi

Jesus called the Blind Man. Your Faith That Saves. Luke, 18:35-43

Image
Dear friends of God's people.  It is a pity that just because a person believes in God and wants to remain faithful to Him, he has to pay for it with his life.  But this is what we have to do as a disciple of Jesus, this is our faith being tested and proven. This story, the blind beggar got a share of his misfortune, he was blind, he had to beg and when he called for Jesus, he was scolded and told to shut up. This would make anyone lose their faith but not this blind beggar.  that's when his faith is tested and proven.  He not only received the vision but his faith also saved him.  May we be able to see our adversity as an opportunity for our faith to be tested and proven, and may our faith in God also bring us salvation.

Our judge is God himself, a good God. God wants what is good for us. Luke, 18:1-8

Image
The God-fearing judge gave the widow what she wanted so that he would be free from her interference.  However, our Judge is God Himself, a good God.  God wants what is good for us.  Allah will hear our every prayer and will give His best response for us.  This is the challenge of this parable of Jesus.  Through this parable of the diligent widow, Jesus wanted His disciples to understand and recognize God's goodness and His faithfulness, thus enabling them to follow in His footsteps.  Seeing how completely and totally Jesus loved and obeyed His Father, this gives us the assurance that God is worthy and worthy of our endless trust.  We can bring our needs before God with an open heart and with the perseverance that this widow has, then we too will recognize the voice of God through the Scriptures and through His messengers.  We may not see or understand how the situation is actually part of God's plan, but we still have faith that God will answer our prayers in ways we have not o

The picture of the End times can actually cause Fear in our hearts Luke 17:26-37

Image
Jesus' picture of the days leading up to His coming in the last days can really cause fear to arise in our hearts. But Jesus told those who listened to His teaching that on the day the Lord came, they should not return home to collect their belongings.  Jesus encouraged them and all of us to find security and peace only in Him. For those who know Jesus personally and intimately, His return is a beautiful and wonderful event.  We will be caught in His love and captivated by the fulfillment of all our dreams so it is only natural that we leave everything behind and run to meet Him.  If now we only know and believe in Jesus from what is described in the Bible and taught by the Church, then when He returns to the world, we will see Him in all His fullness.  Very heartwarming.  So let us continue to obey His word.  Let our hearts always yearn and open to Him.  As we do what He wants us to do, the longing of our hearts will be kindled because the light of His heart will become brighter a

The wages of bearing a heavy cross, joy abounds Luke, 14:25-33

Becoming a disciple of Jesus is often faced with controversial phenomena or teachings.  Not infrequently what Jesus taught did not make sense to the people in His environment.  Including how to become His disciples as narrated in today's Gospel.  Loving parents in the books of wisdom is a virtue that every child should do.  Loving and respecting parents is not just an invitation but this is a command and obligation so that children get happiness.  Likewise with loving husband, wife and children.  But Jesus taught something that seemed to contradict the teachings of this wisdom.  Jesus said, if a man comes to me and does not hate his father, mother, wife, children, brothers or sisters, even his own life, he cannot be my disciple.  Isn't this a harsh teaching?  This is not a popular teaching, because if you hate your parents and family you can be said to be a disobedient child.  Did Jesus teach His disciples to be disobedient?  If that's what Jesus taught, it's unlikely t

As Christians, life after death is an eternity. Everyone will experience death, everyone will experience the end of life. God will Provide Salvation.

Image
Humans are not immortal, consciously or not we must have thought about what actually happens after death.  Life after death has always been a mystery of human questions throughout history.  There are many reviews related to this because it concerns about humans, about us.  This struggle will never end until we experience it ourselves. As Christians, life after death is an eternity.  God's promise of salvation will be fulfilled then.  Everyone will experience death, everyone will experience the end of life.  We too are waiting for the second coming of Christ in glory.  That's when the end of the world, we are all taken into eternity.  God's promise of salvation always applies to us, as long as we are faithful to God. The Pharisees asked about the Kingdom of God.  Their concept of the Kingdom of God is only limited to a place that is limited by space and time.  So they asked when and how the kingdom of God would come.  May the questions they ask because of hearing Jesus preac

Your intelligence and intelligence are of no use, if you are not honest, then you are classified as a bad person.

Image
Dishonesty is an act that is not right.  Everyone is called to act and speak honestly.  No matter how smart a person is, dishonesty is always not justified.  Errors and sins are not the first to be proven or not, but from the actions and words themselves, it is clear whether they are honest or not.  In the world of justice, a new action will be said to be wrong if the physical evidence shows it.  If no one can prove it, the act of murder is not necessarily a mistake.  A dishonest treasurer teaches us that no matter how smart and smart the dishonest act is, in the eyes of our fellow human beings we are still bad people, bad people.  A good goal does not eliminate a good way to achieve it.  A good goal must be pursued in a good way, then everything will be good and right.  This dishonest treasurer, teaches us about responsibility.  Any small responsibility, if done well will bring great trust.  No matter how big the responsibility is, if it is not carried out, it will bring less and less

Jesus Heals 10 Lepers. The Jews hold the view that the Samaritans are pagans.

Image
The ten lepers in the Gospel account consist of 9 Jews and 1 Samaritan.  The Jews held the view that the Samaritans were pagans, unlike the Jews, they were an excommunicated people.  We still remember very well how the story of the good Samaritan ended.  The person who is considered a sinner actually shows total compassion for his fellow sufferers.  Leprosy or any disease at that time was seen as a curse from God because of that person's sin.  It is considered a curse, so people who are sick like that must be removed from the community.  Society generally does not want to be infected by cursed people.  So the ten people in this story stand some distance away and cry out for Jesus' attention.  It is not explained whether Jesus came closer to them or not, what is clear is that Jesus looked at them.  A simple word with a very deep meaning, 'to look'.  In a sense, Jesus saw them when they shouted.  It could also be interpreted that Jesus viewed the ten excluded people as wo
